I did promise to take a look at resources for quiz players.  Well, depends on what you want.  If you’re looking for a local quiz,  a simple search (like ‘pub quiz london’) will throw up lots of choices.  I don’t think any site or source can keep up with all the changes – from my point of view I do my best but people are more likely to tell you when a quiz is starting than when it’s folded. I do really appreciate all the updates I get and thank everyone by email if not on the site so please keep them coming!

The number of times searchers have hit my site looking for ‘answers to Redtooth quizzes’  makes me think also that some of the organisations who sell weekly quizzes might be the subject of a bit of online ‘sharing’ by punters at these quizzes.  Again, I have no idea if the seekers ever found this particular Holy Grail.

How to share information on the advantages and disadvantages of various pub quizzes is a bit more difficult.  Everything is subjective and one person’s ’10 best pub quizzes in London’ is another person’s inner circle of hell.  Pub spin doctors exist and QuizMasters are notoriously sensitive to anything short of adulation.  The way I figure it is that quizplayers are consumers and like all buyers of a product we are entitled to our opinion on what we purchase.  However, I’ve seen people throw hissy fits and ban critics from quizzes, and just who were the charmers who wanted to burn me in effigy because of some mild criticism…?  Gone now, I hope;  I know their quiz is anyway.

A couple of years ago I heard rumours about information on jackpots being online somewhere.  That is, letting you know when a particular quiz jackpot has reached the heights and might be ripe for a visit.  I then heard no more and I wonder if it was ‘foaf’-lore (friend of a friend).  To be fair, it was mentioned in the context of one quiz only so might have been a forum or blog entry.

If you want to branch out from pub quizzing and win money on tv shows, well there are usually lots of contestant calls and this week I received one for people who might have a ‘ruthless streak as well as outstanding general knowledge’.  Mail me for more details.
