The Final Countdown

Nothing much new in London, so have a look at the ‘quiz scene’ in the south-west (link on the right), as evidenced by the healthy number of quizzes in Newquay and its surroundings.

There is some demand (ie PH) for a return to QL’s quizplayer profiles, whereby quizzers in turn would identify themselves, list their best and worst quizzes and quiz questions, best co-players, and attempt to be funny (or taciturn) in their replies.  If you are interested in taking part and seeing your preferences on QL (oo-er missus), let me know.  I’ll come up with a format soon…

As regards ’13 questions’, today’s the day for the final clue, and if you want to start solving, remember the solution is a place, the odd-numbered clues provide a more obscure clue and the even-numbered clues give you a fact about the place.

Here come the clues again, with number of letters in appropriate cases:

1. Is no-one in charge here? (2, 4, 4)
2. Divisible by nine.
3. Influential early 1970s hit single. (1, 2, 5)
4. Could be the source of a famous present.
5. Controversial drama. (3, 6, 2, 7)
6. Thought to be named afer a neighbouring people who settled the area a long time ago.
7. Minority European language. (7)
8. May face an uncertain future because of question marks over its biggest industry.
9. Which way will the cat jump? (11)
