Next update on or before Saturday 7 August – I’m away.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, my computer at work has died, and all IT can say (a week after they logged my call) is:  ‘these models are dropping like flies all over the place’.  Combine that with the connectivity on my home computer having gone to hell, and 50 more or less fruitless and tedious minutes spent on the phone this morning to my broadband provider, and I am beginning to wonder if I am jinxed.  All this also means that I can’t navigate with my usual ease from e-mail to QL via pub listing sites, so some details on new quizzes etc will be incomplete – let’s hope next time I update I’ll have the full picture.  And I’ve lost this post once already so fingers crossed it gets through this time.

To start with the Three Compasses, Hornsey:  no quiz this Monday (27th), but a new league will start the following week.  Even when a league is running you can still come along and compete as there’s a cash prize for each quiz in addition to a prize for the highest total at the end of the league.

Then we have news of a quiz running on Mondays  in the Hansom Cab, W8, and that is all the address I have at the moment;  but I can tell you that there are five rounds, including pictures and music, that it’s £2 to enter, and the first placed team scoop the takings.

And as I’m off  and most likely won’t manage an update next week, here are clues 4 and 5 of the 13-question challenge.  When we get to question 10 I will begin to let you in on the secret of what is happening.
