Killer Racoon Fish…
… is a default quiz team name that I sometimes use. Until someone told me they liked the name I had no idea it was associated with a kind of grunge act but presumably said grunge act got it from the same place I did (given that probably you wouldn’t put those three words together for any good reason). Which brings me to the subject of quiz team names. The most popular are likely to be the type which poke fun at something or someone in the news, usually in bad taste. I remember one about a murder a few years ago and I think that people thought it was fair game because the perpetrator had gone on tv crying crocodile tears… but how far can you actually go without offending someone?
We once stole the title of a cartoon strip for a rhyming team name in moderately bad taste about a famous person. The QM told us that he wasn’t reading it out because he used to work for said person and was having none of it. Quite what use one of Britain’s foremost would have had for a dodgy QM with a creative way with scores I do not know.
So what are the worst team names? I think we’re all heartily sick of QuizTeam Aguilera, Quiz Akibussi, Norfolk and Chance, etc. Send me some good and bad examples and I’ll return to this topic in a few weeks.
No news of anything cancelled for the Bank Holiday, but as always, check if you’re in any doubt.
