Elton John, what’s that flower you’ve got on?
No reason for the title except I like it. Now swiftly on to news:
The Union Chiswick, Building 5, Chiswick Park, 566 Chiswick High Road, W4 5YA, 020 8995 9056, has a new quiz. Entry is £5, which includes a free glass of wine/pint of beer and some tapas. Mixed rounds and a prize of a bottle of champagne. So now we know everything except which night of the week, and when I get that I will include it in the listings.
The Jersey listings are totally revamped, which means drastically pruned as quizzing seems to have taken a bit of a dive there in favour of K***a***. Which brings me to this week’s moral question, not what sanction should be imposed on MPs who are creative with their expenses, but whether it is moral and right to include a Sudoku puzzle accounting for 10 points out of a possible 70 in a quiz. What if you have never done one of these before?
And while you ponder on that, consider this also: on the two nights before I went away I went to two quizzes and we won around £210 between both. This is not boasting but just to alert you to the fact that this is possible if you choose your quiz and quizmates well, and it’s probably relevant to point out that neither win depended on a rollover jackpot. Neither am I going to give you the pubs’ names, though careful reading of the QL listings will point you in the right direction….
