***** you guys, I’m going ****

Next update on or before Saturday 16 May – I’m going away.

Which is in part the explanation of the title above, except that I’m not going ‘hawwwwm’.  The quote also means that ‘South Park’ is now my favourite pub quiz machine game;  I took some time to work out what I was doing (not having read the instructions) and managed to win cash.  And NC has found another talent in whacking Mr Hankeys as they emerge from toilets on the screen in one of those awful ‘Mystery’ rounds. However, it now seems that whenever you get through to the endgame it is increasingly difficult to land on a cash amount and we still get endless questions…

Which is all not very important in the scheme of things.  Moving on to pub quizzes, news reaches me that the Plough in Museum Street is no longer offering its Wednesday night quiz.  And I was given the mission, should I choose to accept it, some time ago of finding a new Sunday night quiz for someone;  I found him three or four and here’s another one:

The Minstrel Boy, 156 Colney Hatch Lane, N10 1ER, 020 8444 4747.

This advertises an early start (7pm) and I don’t know much else.  As to the task I was given, I’m afraid we have a case of ‘The whole of the moon’ syndrome, as all the quizzes are deemed to be too far, too fast, or too soon.

QL’s inbox has been metaphorically bulging this week and I have a contestant call for ‘Who Dares Wins’ (mail me for more details), news of quiz music rounds for purchase from Dr Paul’s site, and news from Eddie that the Bailey won’t be taking place on Bank Holiday Monday.  Happy holiday to the Controller and to everyone else.
