Come back, food
My keyboard spontaneously righted itself when the computer was moved to aid wallpaper being stripped! Amazing. This has enabled a new addition to the ‘Free Quiz Questions’ section this week – a quiz of QM Robbie’s from the Plough, Hornsey Road, which has a small Sunday night quiz. I always think Robbie does an interesting quiz with some unusual questions. The only problem is that he handed me the list of questions without the answers and a couple (which, obviously, we didn’t get right at the time) proved elusive. The Plough is not to everyone’s taste but has recently been revamped – there seem to be acres of space in what I used to think was a small pub. The quiz is well hidden away in a back lounge.
News reaches me that John Henderson’s Monday night quiz at the Elephant, in North Finchley, may be under threat and might finish or move up the road to Malt and Hops. If you want to support the Elephant quiz get along there quickly, ideally next Monday night (2nd February).
I was at a terrible charity quiz during the week with people from work, where we nominated our joker in advance on the music round and were presented with ten national anthems (we recognised Germany, the USA, Italy – most likely because of the rugby connection – and ‘A Soldier’s Song’). If that wasn’t bad enough, add a hand-around on twenty flags. But for the final coup de grace, how about a page of twenty Mister Bastard Men??? Isn’t it crap as well when your work colleagues think you are a ‘quiz pro’ because you play a few and have great expectations, which obviously weren’t met. Oh, and the food ran out…
