Oh, what do you want

How did ‘Apache Dropout’ (from which the above lyrics are taken) get to be the most played track on my i-pod, is this week’s jackpot question.  Also, a signal for those who use this site to let me know what you want more of in the new year on the site.  Up-to-date listings and new quizzes are as always the priority, and for the listings to be up to date, please send me details of pubs which have closed (5 a day, I’m told, so I’m going to be chasing my or at least the dog’s tail to keep up) or quizzes that are no more.

Got a ‘contestant call’ from a major tv station who are developing a new quiz, so if anyone is interested mail me and I’ll forward the details.  Many regular and semi-regular pub and league quizzers have appeared on one or more prominent tv quizzes;  I am not one of them and pretty sure I never will be.  I even dodged having a photo taken after some major local win by telling the pub personnel that I require my employer’s permission to appear in the media (true, part of our terms and conditions, you would think it was the bloody secret service, but this ban it has proved handy at times).

Someone requested a few quiz questions relating to the 60s, so here the (very easy) questions come, for your diversion:

1.    The Moon Landings, 1969.  Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon.  What was the name of the third astronaut who stayed in the Command Module?
2.    Actress Sharon Tate was murdered followers of Charles Manson.  Who was her famous husband?
3.    Charts:  name the London group with female drummer Honey Lantree who had a 1964 No 1 with ‘Have I the right’
4.    Manfred Mann had three number one records during the 60s.  Name any of these.
5.    Who was Lyndon Johnson’s Vice President from 1963-64?
6.    Why was Kippure, a mountain between Wicklow and Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, in  the news in 1961?
7.    Who played the younger of Dustin Hoffman’s love interests in ‘The Graduate’?
8.    What was blown up by the IRA on 8 March 1966?
9.     His last words were allegedly:   “I know you’ve come to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man.” and he died in Bolivia in 1967.  Who was he?
10.    Many of them were jailed after frequent fights in Brighton, Margate, Clacton and Bournemouth.  Who were they?
