Thirteen Questions
And as if by magic following last week’s posting, notifcation of two Tuesday quizzes arrives.
George and Vulture, 63 Pitfield Street, Hoxton, N1 6BU, 020 7253 3988.
Starts 7.30
and
The Blind Beggar, 337 Whitechapel Road, E1 1BU, 020 7247 6195.
Also, correction to last week’s listings, which I’ve already made in the posting - the Lord Morpeth is Thursdays, not Wednesdays. Apologies.
‘Thirteen Questions’ is the title of a song I was listening to, but it’s just given me an idea. Thirteen years ago, almost to the day, I moved to London from another city. Now some of you know what that city is, but for those of you who enjoy puzzles and ‘who am I’ type quiz questions, where a series of q’s in descending order of difficulty provide clues to the identity of a famous person, I’m going to provide thirteen clues to what this city is and here’s the first one:
1. The city has expanded to the West, which is thought of as a bit wild; no-one ever says that they come from the East of the city.
At the end of this probably pointless exercise, you will be equipped with a wealth of trivia about the city, and will be able to answer any quiz question on it! Well, maybe. Next clue next week - any early guesses?
And lastly, congratulations and respect to the person who shall remain nameless, but who this week managed to answer a jackpot question correctly between bouts of vomiting. There are times when you just can’t keep a good man (or anything else) down.
