This week, I’ve been inundated this week with tales of seemingly unfair treatment at quizzes, from people being told they can’t play because they haven’t reserved tables to a jackpot you’re not allowed to win (below). And what do I always say in these instances? That quizmasters (and quizmistresses) are ‘the men who will not be blamed for nothing’ and you have very little recourse to a higher power, particularly in instances where the landlord/lady is also the quiz caller.
However, I do know a few quizzes where the punters actually managed by campaigning to get rid of the quizmaster when things were persistently bad or unfair.
New quiz: the John Baird in Muswell Hill has started its Sunday night quiz, having long threatened to do so. It’s supposedly six themed rounds but apparently only five were called out last week because of time constraints. First reports are that there’s an entertainment bias, but that could be just the perceptions of the attendees I know…
Also, there’s a new Monday quiz announced in:
North Nineteen,
194-196 Sussex Way,
Upper Holloway,
N19 4HZ.
020 7281 2768.
