Quiz night Monday at 8.

Here follows Fletcher’s review of this quiz, and I’ll try to get more details of the pub before I add it to the listings:

‘I was invited to this pub by a friend who lives locally and who had come across the pub while researching for CAMRA.

‘It’s actually a gastro-pub and was crowded with diners. However, our CAMRA man had reserved a table close to the bar. As we sat down a waitress took our drinks orders, and the quizmaster came around with the answer sheet and a picture handout. I immediately recognised the pictures as ones used in many South London pubs.

‘Then we had 40 questions in four rounds of 10 with no particular theme. Some of the questions relate to the pictures on the handout. There were some questions for spot prizes during the quiz and we managed to win one of these. (Fletch, what was it? -QL)

‘The quiz had an entertainment bias and was more suited to younger people (namely, everyone else in the pub…) Despite our best efforts and some clues from the quizmaster, we were well behind the winning team.

‘We signalled to the waitress for another bottle of wine to drown our sorrows’.
